Awards and healthy games and for agricultural families in Nicaragua.

In Nicaragua, games and playful dynamics constitute expressions of entertainment and learning that are part of the cultural heritage, allowing us to remember and internalize customs and traditions. These games help reinforce cultural identity, promote social skills and strengthen learning processes in rural places where there are no parks or playgrounds.

ViviendasLeón in Nicaragua held a day of activities to recognize the work of our sustainable agriculture program on New Year’s Eve, 2024. In the event, we had the participation of our farmers, who enthusiastically and with a happy heart participated in each of the games. In them, we talked about the experiences learned in the outgoing year, and the various challenges, climate included, that affected or influenced vegetable production.

One objective was for the farmers and their families to reinforce the lessons first learned in the HCT program of constructive self-expression, feedback and community building. In addition, games were held to promote fun and healthy activities. The final activity was closed with the game; “Ponándole la cola Burro” (Pin the Tail on the Donkey).  Recognition was given to the best garden, which this year was awarded to Exania Estrada, who demonstrated high categorization in terms of quantity produced and variety of vegetables.

We spoke to one of our newest farmers:

Yahosca Dolmus Meza: “I am 19 years old and live in the Troilo community. The New Year’s Eve event was a surprise. I enjoyed participating and it taught us to live together as a large family of hard-working people. The group behavior began to change as we got involved in playing games and activities that the ViviendasLeon staff organized for us.

The event helped us out of our daily routine of chores, tasks, and the problems we experience within our families. We forgot about them for a while and, with laughter, the problems became less heavy. The event relaxed us as we played the game of Pin the tail on the donkey. At the end, each one of us took a prize home and I am sure that it will be appreciated and very useful for the family. This healthy experience motivates us as small producers to continue working with great effort and dedication.
