Yale Day of Service, León Nicaragua 2018
Yale Day of Service
May 12, 2018
ViviendasLeón is a non-profit sustainable development organization whose mission is to eliminate rural poverty by empowering self-sufficiency in rural communities and fostering cross-cultural understanding while educating our next generation of global citizens.
Join us for this year's Yale Day of Service. The program is open to all alumni, current students and friends who are in Nicaragua. Participants will meet at our León office at 9 AM. There will be a brief presentation and orientation, and then travel to the rural communities of Sutiaba where we work. Participants will work alongside rural families and youth, taking part in our rural development program including food security farming, reforestation, youth arts education, and water security and sanitation. Lunch will be provided in the community where participants can relax and learn more about rural interdisciplinary development.
After working the afternoon, we will return to León for an hour of swimming in a local pool. The end of the day will include in a nearby home, and a reflection about the events and experiences of the day.
