The Branson School
February 18-24, 2018
ViviendasLeón and The Branson School will partner again in 2018 to create a unique Global Education Program with a focus on language and cultural immersion. Students will live together in home stays in the León neighborhood of Fundeci. The students will travel each day to visit important cultural and historic places such as the León Cathedral, Revolutionary Museum and a walking tour of the Revolutionary Murals. In the afternoons students will travel to the communities where we work throughout the year providing sustainable development projects. Students will take part on our most important initiative, working side by side with families on small farms that provides them with food security and nutrition. With the infusement of help from the students, the families will be able to take these crops to the market to help sell them creating a source of income for them. Students also participate in reforesting trees that help rebuild the local habitat, helps control erosion and restores nutrients in the soil. Students not only get the chance to participate in our Family Farming Program but they also get the opportunity to interact with other youth their age in our Youth Arts Program and even start a game of soccer with the locals from the rural communities. Our Global Education Program will help introduce students to new ways of thinking which will foster a meaningful and worthwhile service-learning experience.
